Every now and then I get an update from CloudCheckr about the new features they added to their tool. It is quite impressive what they can achieve for your AWS account(s). If you have a look at the infographic they made earlier this year you can see that almost every company that uses AWS (companies with at least 10 EC2 instances) violates at least one of the best practices they check in the areas ‘cost’, ‘availability’ and ‘security’:
For a more in-depth analysis of this infographic read this article.
Recently they added more best practices, especially for the AWS RDS, so even more chance they discover a way to improve your AWS set up.
Besides all these best practices they have also added lots of reporting possibilities. One that I find quite handy is the Cost Allocation report:
With this report (in combination with a decent usage of AWS tags) you can easily visualise costs for different areas (cost centers for example).
But like I said they have lots more so I would dare you to have a look for yourself. You can sign up here for a free ‘PRO’ account for two weeks. If you need any help just let me know or contact their support. And lets see if you are in the 2% of the users that don’t break any of the best practices checked by CloudCheckr 🙂
